What is Michael Berg thinking?

How did Michael Berg respond yesterday to the news that his son's killer was dead? Mr. Berg told the New York Times that President Bush "is more of a terrorist" than the jihadist ever was. Lisa Ramaci, whose husband Steve Vincent (author of In the Red Zone) was assasinated by jihadist thugs last August, has a very different take. Berg's irrational thinking does nothing to hasten the end of the war. She shares her thoughts on Zarqawi, the Iraqi people, and the war today on Fox News at 4 pm EDT.

Reuters honors Steven Vincent

This month Reuters is paying special tribute to the 67 journalists slain in Iraq. Editor & Publisher reports that the journalists' names are listed continuously on Reuter's big screen in Times Square. Steven Vincent is among them.

Targeting and Tragedy

The International Federation of Journalists has published a report, "Targeting and Tragedy", on journalists killed in 2005. Steven Vincent's case is discussed on p.34, in Part Two of the report. A word of caution: the passage includes a photo of Steven's body.

According to Aidan White, general secretary of the IFJ,  “In more than 90 per cent of all cases there are few serious investigations by the authorities and only a handful of the killers are ever brought to trial. A combination of police corruption, judicial incompetence and political indifference has created a culture of neglect and indifference which makes every day hunting season for attacks on media staff.”

Steven Vincent

Tomorrow, December 31, would have been Steven Vincent's 50th birthday. Steven, as you may recall was murdered in Iraq on August 2.
